There are many people who feel that by following a diet that is free of yeast, they will be able to avoid certain chronic illnesses. This diet requires the elimination of all forms of sugar and wheat, as well as processed foods that promote yeast growth.
It is said that the best way to manage this on a daily basis is to focus on the foods you are allowed to eat. To 'survive this diet', you need to plan well and use replacement dishes, such as the different yeast-free bread recipes given in the paragraphs here.

# 1

Ingredients
  • Cornmeal, 1 cup
  • Shortening, 1 tbsp.
  • Egg, 1
  • Baking powder, 1 tsp.
  • Salt, to taste

Preparation

For this, preheat the oven to 375°F. Coat the baking pan with butter, and then dust it with a little flour. Place the cornmeal, salt, and shortening in a large container, and sift this mixture three times. Now, add a little bit of boiling water, and stir till you have a smooth batter, ensuring no lumps form. Break the egg, mix it and fold it into the batter.
Next, add the baking powder and continue to stir. Now, pour the mixture into the baking pan, and bake for 20 minutes at the same temperature. If a knife put in the center comes out clean, then your dish is done. If not, bake for another 5 minutes. Cool the loaf on a baking tray and serve.

# 2

Ingredients
  • Self-rising flour, 2½ cups
  • Carbonated lemon-lime soda, 1½-oz. can
  • White sugar, 3 tbsp.

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Coat a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan with butter, and then, dust it with a little flour. Take a large mixing bowl, and add the flour, sugar and soda into it. Stir well, till you have a batter with no lumps.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan, and bake it for about 45 minutes. If you feel the need to, you can check while baking, by inserting a knife into the center of the dish. When it comes out clean, your loaf is ready. Cool and slice.

# 3 (Dairy-free)

Ingredients
  • Whole-grain flour, 3 cups (ideally organic)
  • Sea salt, ¼ or ½ tsp.
  • Distilled/purified water, 2½ cups (600 ml)
  • Olive oil, 1 tbsp.
  • Baking powder, 1 tbsp. (non-aluminum)

Preparation

Pour into the prepared pan, and place in the middle rack in the oven. Bake for about 50 to 55 minutes. If you feel the need to, you can check by inserting a baker's pick into the center of the dish. When it comes out clean, your loaf is ready. It should also have a golden brown crust. Let it cool completely on the rack (½ hour or more) before you cut it.
Note 1: You could use flour, such as whole wheat, barley, rye, oat, spelt, kamut, etc.

Note 2: Non-glutenous flours, such as rice, millet, buckwheat, amaranth, corn, potato, etc., do not hold together by themselves. So, the addition of glutenous flour(s) or a binding agent such as egg will be required.
While this is a hard time, these yeast-free bread recipes will provide bread you can have along with your breakfast and other meals.
