Most women have a tough time thinking about what to cook for supper. If you are one of them, you must be looking for recipes that can be made quickly with ease. Read on to know some simple ideas for supper that are not only delicious, but healthy too.
Even the thought of cooking for dinner after a long and tiring day, can be dreadful for many women. Hence, most people opt for the easiest alternative and that is eating out or bringing in junk food. Rather than planning the menu and then finding that you do not have the necessary ingredients, first have a look at what you have in store the previous day itself and then according to what you have, decide your menu for the next day.
Storing some ingredients in bulk saves a lot of time. Things that you should have in your larder to make your dinner preparations, include vegetables, brown rice, lean meat, milk, whole grain bread or pasta, eggs, fish, cheese, poultry, etc. If you are too tired or do not have time to cook dinner, reusing leftover food is also a good idea.

Beef with Vegetables

'Hamburger with vegetables' made in the crock pot is one of the best supper ideas; which holds double the credential of being healthy and easy-to-make supper. Its additional benefit is you do not have to waste time in supervising the dish while it's being cooked.

Ingredients

● Beef, 24 oz.
● Onion, 1 (medium-sized, sliced)
● Tomato soup, 1 can
● Potatoes, 6 (peeled and diced)
● Green pepper, 1 (sliced)
● Soup can water, ½
● Carrots, 6 (cut in chunks)
● Salt and pepper - as per taste

Preparation

1. The first step is to dilute the tomato soup with ½ soup can water and then set aside.

2. In a crock pot, place all the sliced vegetables and add the seasonings i.e. the salt and pepper.

3. Follow it with beef which is cut in chunks.

4. Once this is placed in the crock pot, add the soup to it.
5. Adjust the temperature of the crock pot at a high degree and cook for at least three hours.

6. If you start the crock pot in the morning, by afternoon the dish will be ready and you will not have to think much about dinner while coming back from work.

Mexican Ground Beef

Ingredients

● Beef, 16 oz. (lean and ground)
● Chili powder, 3 tsp.
● Onion, 1 (chopped)
● Green chilies, 4 oz. (diced)
● Pepper, ⅛ tsp.
● Garlic cloves, 2 (minced)
● Black beans, 16 oz. (rinsed and drained)
● Oil, 3 tsp.
● Unsweetened chocolate, ½ of 1 oz.
● Tomato paste, 6 oz.
● Cinnamon,
● Cumin, ½ tsp.
● Tomatoes, onions, and garlic, 14 oz. (diced)

Preparation

1. Take a microwave-safe dish and cook garlic and onion for four minutes in a high temperature by adding 3 teaspoons of oil.

2. Do not forget to stir once during cooking. Once this is done, add the ground beef and again cook for four minutes.

3. Take it out after four minutes, stir once and cook again for three to four minutes.
4. Drain away the fat that forms after cooking and add the vegetables and the other ingredients to it.

5. Mix till all the ingredients are fully combined and cook in the microwave without covering.

6. After five minutes, stir and cook for a longer time, at least for 10 - 15 minutes.

7. Before serving, check whether the vegetables and meat are fully cooked.

Cold Shrimp Salad

If you are cooking supper on a warm summer day, you will find this salad extremely refreshing.

Ingredients

● Shrimp, 16 oz. (cooked and sliced)
● Fresh pears, 16 oz. (diced)
● Red apples, 16 oz. (diced)
● Celery, 8 oz. (thinly sliced)
● Salad dressing or mayonnaise, 4 oz.
● Cider vinegar, 3 tsp.
● Milk, 2 tsp.
● Grated onion 2 tsp.
● Salad greens
● Paprika
● Salt - as per taste

Preparation

1. In a large bowl, place the diced fruits including apples, celery and pears along with the sliced shrimp and set aside.

2. In another bowl, mix vinegar, mayonnaise, salt, onion and milk and add to the fruits and shrimp mixture.
3. Mix well and place this bowl in the refrigerator for half hour to one hour.

4. Place salad greens on plates and fill them with the shrimp salad.

5. Garnish with paprika and serve cold.
