What can be more refreshing than drinking a glass of chilled cocktail during a lazy summer evening. This story gives you some recipes for summer cocktails.
Summers are much awaited by everyone, but the heat can sometimes get overwhelming. The best way to beat the blazing heat is to drink a cool cocktail that uses a blend of fruit juices, liqueurs, and alcohol. If you are throwing a small party or a get together at your place, then you definitely need a selection of chilled drinks to serve your guests.
Make sure that you have adequate amount of juices and alcohol in your refrigerator and get ready to rock the party. Keep your guest's taste and preference in mind when you plan for summer cocktails.

Watermelon Punch

Ingredients
  • Watermelon, 2 cups, (cut into chunks)
  • White vermouth, 1½ cup
  • Sugar, 1 tbsp. (powdered)
  • Ice, 3 cups (crushed)

Method

In a food processor, place the watermelon chunks and add the powdered sugar and vermouth and process until you get a smooth liquid.
Now add the crushed ice and process again for a few seconds. Pour this into tall glasses and serve chilled.

Agua Fresca de Pepino

Ingredients
  • Medium-sized cucumbers, 2 (peeled and diced)
  • Sugar, ¼ cup (powdered sugar)
  • Fresh lime juice, 3 tbsp.
  • Serrano pepper, ¼ (seeded)
  • Water, 3 cups
  • Crushed ice
  • Lime slices
Method
In a food processor or blender, process the diced cucumber, serrano pepper, powdered sugar, and lime juice until you have a smooth paste. Pour this out into a large jug and add three cups of water and stir well to combine. Cover this mixture with a cling film and refrigerate overnight.
Strain this cucumber mixture through a strainer and discard the solids. Serve this cocktail by pouring it over crushed ice and garnish with lime slices.

Tequila Sunrise

Ingredients
  • Orange juice, 4 cups (freshly squeezed)
  • Tequila, 2 cups
  • Pomegranate juice, 1 cup
Method
In a large jug or pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed orange juice with tequila and pomegranate juice and combine them well.
Pour them in glasses with lots of ice cubes.

Classic Dry Martini

Ingredients
  • Vodka, 6 tbsp. (chilled)
  • Dry vermouth, ½ tsp.
  • Crushed ice
  • Lemon rind, 1 strip
Method
In a martini shaker, place the crushed ice and add the vodka and dry vermouth.
Stir the martini shaker a couple of times to combine all the ingredients well. Place the lemon rind into the martini glass and pour out the vodka mixture into the glass. Serve immediately.

Lemon Verbena Gimlet Cocktails

Ingredients
  • Dry gin, 1 cup
  • Fresh lime juice, ¼ cup
  • Club soda, ½ cup
  • Water, 1 cup
  • Verbena leaves, ¼ cup (torn)
  • Sugar, ¼ cup
  • Lime slices
Method
In a small saucepan over medium heat, bring a cup of water to boil and add sugar to it.
Also, add the torn verbena leaves and allow the sugar to dissolve completely. Remove the mixture from heat and allow it to cool completely. Strain the mixture and discard the verbena leaves.
In a pitcher, combine the sugar syrup with gin, lemon juice, and club soda. Pour this mixture over crushed ice in tall glasses and garnish with lemon slices.

Bloody Mary

Ingredients
  • Vodka, 1¼ cups
  • Worcestershire sauce, 2½ tbsp.
  • Tomato juice, 1 can
  • Fresh lime juice, ½ cup
  • Pepper, ½ tsp. (freshly ground)
  • Hot sauce, 1 tsp.
  • Prepared horseradish root, 1 tsp.
  • Salt, ¼ tsp.
  • Lime wedges
Method
In a pitcher, combine all the ingredients together and stir with a wooden spoon. Pour this delectable summer cocktail recipe over crushed ice in small glasses.

Pineapple Margaritas

Ingredients
  • Tequila, ½ cup
  • Triple sec, 3 tbsp.
  • Fresh lime juice, 6 tbsp.
  • Pineapple juice, ½ cup
  • Sugar, 2 tsp. (powdered sugar)
  • Lime slices
  • Crushed ice

Method

In a cocktail shaker, add the tequila, triple sec, fresh lime juice, pineapple juice, and powdered sugar and shake it for a couple of seconds.
Pour into cocktail glasses and add crushed ice and garnish with lime wedges.
You can garnish these drinks with lime wedges, olives, jalapeno slices or mint sprigs.
