Another variation to normal flour tortillas are spinach tortillas. The recipe of it is really easy and can be made right at home. This story will describe the essential ingredients involved to make a perfect tortilla.
Make the Tortillas from Scratch
The following description is for a soft, homemade flour tortilla with spinach. The recipe will make approximately 8 tortillas of 12 inches.
Ingredients
  • Fresh spinach, boiled, drained, and chopped, 9 oz.
  • Water, 1 tablespoon
  • Oil, ¼ cup
  • Garlic salt, taste
  • Seasoned black pepper, taste
  • Flour, 2 cups
Procedure
In a bowl, mix flour, garlic salt, seasoned pepper, oil, spinach, and water in. Knead the mixture for about 5 minutes to make a smooth dough. Make 8 equal-sized balls of the dough. Before we start rolling the tortillas, preheat a large non-stick pan on low heat. Lightly flour the surface to roll the dough into thin circles. One by one, place the tortillas in the pan, and cook both the sides for 5 minutes each, or until you see small brown spots on it. (Calories: 180 kcal per tortilla)
Tortilla Roll Ups with Turkey
The recipe is quite simple, has a lot of heat to it, and makes an amazing appetizer or side dish for the main course.
Ingredients
  • Smoked turkey, thinly sliced, 1 lb.
  • Ripe avocado, peeled, 3
  • Jalapeño peppers, chopped, 2
  • Cream cheese, 8 oz.
  • Green or red salsa, 4 oz.
  • Sour cream, ¼ cup
  • Lemon juice, 2 tablespoons
  • Onion powder, ½ teaspoon
  • Spinach tortillas, 6
  • Salt and black pepper, taste
Procedure
In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, salsa, and jalapeños together. Use a fork to mash the avocados in a bowl with some fresh lemon juice. Now add the onion powder, salt, and black pepper in, and keep mixing till you get a smooth consistency. Take a tortilla and spread generous amount of this jalapeño mix.
Place the turkey slices (as many as you like) on each tortilla, and top it with generous amount of avocado mix. Now roll the tortilla making sure everything is tightly snugged inside it. Cut the tortillas in half, and serve it with some salsa.
