Slow Cooker Chili Recipes

A slow cooker is an electrical appliance used for slow cooking a meal, allowing it to stew in its own juices. It is easy to cook in this vessel; you just have to add all the ingredients, keep it on low flame for a couple of hours, and then enjoy your delicious meal.
Chili recipes are loved by those who enjoy spicy food, containing different types of spices that are available in the market. Cooking these spicy recipes in a slow cooker, makes the dish even more delicious and mouth-watering. Here are some recipes that you can try at home.

Beans-Veggie Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups, baked beans
  • 15 ounces, kidney beans
  • 15 ounces, whole kernel corn
  • 2, green paprika
  • 2, garlic cloves
  • 3 teaspoons, chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon, cumin (grounded)
  • 15 ounces, garbanzo beans
  • 1 tablespoon, dried oregano
  • 3 teaspoons, dried parsley
  • 2, onions
  • 2, celery stalks
  • 19 ounces, black bean soup
  • 2 cans, chopped tomatoes puree
  • 2, large mushrooms
  • 3 teaspoons, dried basil
  • salt to taste

Preparation

Wash the kidney beans and garbanzo beans, separately, and drain the water. Cut the onions, mushrooms, and paprika, into one-inch-sized pieces. Chop up the garlic and celery. Put the baked beans, kidney beans, garbanzo beans, corn, black bean soup, and tomato puree, in the slow cooker and mix well.
Then, add the garlic, cumin, basil, parsley, chili powder, and a pinch of salt, to it. Stir the mix once and cook on a high flame for 2 hours, or 5-6 hours on low heat. If you like very spicy food, you can add some more chili powder and also a dash of black pepper.
You can also make your own flavor alterations as per your liking, before enjoying your meal. This can be served to 6-8 people.

Easy Ground Turkey/Beef Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups, kidney beans
  • 2 pounds, ground turkey or beef chunks
  • 2-3, medium-sized onions
  • 2, garlic cloves
  • 3 cans, chopped tomatoes
  • 1-2, green chilies
  • 3 teaspoons, ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon, red pepper flakes
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons, vegetable oil
  • Cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup, tomato sauce
  • 1, green pepper
  • 2 teaspoons, black pepper

Preparation

Dice the beef into little cubes. Heat a nonstick frying pan, add the oil, and fry one chopped onion, along with the minced garlic. Add the cubed meat pieces and cook till it becomes brown. If you prefer a spicy dish, you can also add black pepper and red pepper while frying.
While the meat is frying, chop the onions and green chilies, finely. Wash and drain the kidney beans. Add all the saucepan's contents into the slow cooker and give it a good stir.
Pour the tomato sauce into the cooker, along with the cumin, green pepper, and salt. You can cook it for 4 hours on a high flame or 8-10 hours on a low one. Garnish with shredded cheddar cheese and your dish is ready.

Spicy Chicken Recipe

Ingredients for Main Dish

  • 3 lbs, chicken thighs
  • 1, large onion
  • 1 teaspoon, smoked bell pepper
  • 1 lb, white beans
  • 1 teaspoon, ground coriander
  • Salt to taste
  • 5 cups, water or low-sodium chicken broth
  • ¼ teaspoon, cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon, black pepper
  • 3, large garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon, oregano
  • 1 teaspoon, ground cumin
  • ½ cup, green chillies

Ingredients for Garnishing

  • Sour cream
  • Spicy salsa
  • Avocado
  • Cilantro
  • Red onion

Preparation

Remove the skin and bones of the chicken thighs and set it aside. Dice the onion, garlic, and green chilies, into tiny pieces. Put these in a slow cooker and set it on medium heat. Add the chicken to it, as well as the white beans (after washing it, thoroughly).
In a nonstick pan, roast the ground cumin and coriander on a medium to low flame for 1 minute. Toss the mixture around the pan till it gives off a pungent smell, and then add the paprika, pepper, cayenne, salt, and oregano, to it. Add this mixture into the slow cooker and let it cook for 7-8 hours.
Chop the cilantro, avocado, and red onion, fold it into the sour cream and spicy salsa. Garnish with this mixture. You can also make this dish with ground chicken or turkey.
