Simple Recipes for Kids

Cooking food for fussy kids can be a very challenging task for most mothers. Here are some simple recipes that you can try out.
Children can be very choosy when it comes to eating food that is good for their health. They are mostly drawn towards unhealthy food that should not be consumed on a regular basis. This story has a few recipes that are easy to prepare as well as healthy.

Fruit Smoothie

Ingredients
  • 1 cup, plain yogurt
  • ½ cup, strawberries (chopped)
  • ¼ teaspoon, vanilla
  • 2 ice cubes
  • 6-7 raisins
In a blender, blend all ingredients until smooth. Pour in a glass and serve chilled.

Pizza Hotdogs

Ingredients
  • 4 hot dog buns
  • 4 hotdogs
  • 1 jar, pizza sauce
  • 12 slices, mozzarella cheese
  • Grated Parmesan cheese
Split the buns and hotdogs lengthwise. Place the slit buns on a flat plate, and sprinkle mozzarella cheese over them. Place the hot dog on each bun and spread the pizza sauce over it. Add the Parmesan cheese over this layer. Place the hotdogs on a pan and grill until the cheese begins to melt.

Fresh Veggie Pizza

Ingredients
  • 1 ready-made pizza crust
  • 1 cup, sour cream
  • 8 ounces, cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 cups, raw assorted vegetables (chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon, dressing mix
Bake the pizza crust in a preheated oven at 350 ºF or until lightly browned and crisp. In a bowl, stir together the cream cheese, sour cream, and dressing mix. Spread this on the crust and top it with mixed vegetables. Bake the pizza again until the vegetables brown very lightly.

Chicken Tossed with Bow Tie Pasta

Ingredients
  • 2 chicken breast fillets (chopped)
  • 1 packet bow tie pasta
  • ¾ cup, chicken stock
  • ½ cup, cream
  • 1 tablespoon, cornstarch
  • ¼ cup, lemon juice
  • ¼ teaspoon, lemon rind (grated)
  • 1 tablespoon, olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon, soy sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon, sugar
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 4 sprigs, parsley (finely chopped)
This is simplest recipes for dinner. In a large wok heat some oil . Add the chicken and stir fry it until tender. Remove it from the pan and set aside. In a large pot, boil some water and cook the pasta until tender, yet firm. Mix the chicken stock, cream, sugar, soy sauce, lemon rind, and juice in a small bowl. Add cornstarch and combine it well.
In the same pan, toss the minced garlic until it turns brown. Pour the chicken stock and cream mix into the pan. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer. Add the chicken pieces and pasta and mix it well. Garnish with the parsley and serve hot with bread.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients
  • 1¾ cup, flour
  • 3 cups, chocolate chips
  • ½ cup, brown sugar
  • ½ cup, shortening
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup, sour cream
  • 1½ teaspoon, vanilla
  • ½ cup, walnuts (chopped)
  • ½ teaspoon, salt
  • ½ teaspoon, baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon, baking soda
Cream the sugar and shortening in a large bowl. Add the egg, sour cream, and vanilla to it and beat well. Melt half of the chocolate chips over a double boiler, and pour in the cream mix. Sift the flour, salt, baking powder, and soda into the bowl and blend until smooth.
Add the nuts and remaining chocolate chips and refrigerate the dough for half an hour. Roll them out in any size you want, and place them on a cookie sheet. Bake in a moderately hot oven, until slightly soft in the center and crisp.
