Drinking Chocolate Recipes

Why not celebrate Valentine's day with some drinking chocolate? Doesn't sound unique, but try these delectable drinks and serve it up with some love.

Aztec Chocolate

Ingredients:
  • Unsweetened Baking Chocolate, 1 oz.
  • Vanilla, 1 tsp.
  • Boiling Water, ⅔ cup.
  • Chili Peppers, ½ tsp. (ground)
Preparation
Start by grating the unsweetened chocolate in a bowl and pouring hot water over it. This will make it melt up to the desired consistency and then you can mix and mash it into a paste. Add the remaining water and vanilla.
Using a blender, mix it well till it becomes frothy. Add chili pepper to give it a twist. Do not let the chocolate dissolve completely. This will add some texture to the drink.

Chocolate Caliente

Ingredients:
  • Baker's Chocolate, 4 squares (broken in pieces)
  • Skimmed Milk, 2 cups
  • Vanilla Essence, 3 drops
  • Cinnamon, 1 pinch
  • Ground Cloves, 1 pinch
Preparation
Take a saucepan and add milk, chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, and clove. Mix gently on a medium heat. Take care not to boil the mixture. Using a whisk, mix till it becomes frothy. Pour it into mugs, add sugar, and top with some more cinnamon.

Creamy Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:
  • Heavy Cream, ⅓ cup (chilled)
  • Sugar, 1 tbsp.
  • Bittersweet Chocolate, 4 oz.
  • Whole Milk, 2 cups
Preparation
Add sugar in the cream and using a blender, mix well till it forms stiff peaks. Chop the chocolate, keeping aside 2 tsp. Take a pan. Heat milk and chocolate in it over a medium flame, and then let this mixture simmer. Pour it into mugs, top with whipped cream and sprinkle the remaining chocolate.

Orange Scented Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:
  • Milk, 2 cups
  • Bittersweet Chocolate, 4 oz. (chopped)
  • Orange Peel, 3 strips
  • Instant Coffee Powder, ½ tsp.
  • Nutmeg, 1 pinch
Preparation
Take a medium-sized saucepan, place it on low heat. Add milk, chocolate, coffee powder, orange strips, nutmeg. Stir properly, then bring to a boil. Remove from heat, beat with a whisk, till it becomes frothy. Place it back on the stove, bring to boil once again. Whisk once more, remove the orange peel and pour it into mugs. Serve hot and frothy.

Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:
  • Milk, 8 oz.
  • Chocolate Syrup, 4 tsp.
  • Peanut Butter, 1 tbsp.
  • Whipped Cream, (for topping)
  • Chocolate Sprinkles, (for topping)
Preparation
Take a sauce pan and place it on medium heat. Add the milk and heat it well. Be careful to skim it properly. Add the syrup and stir well till it gets blended. Then add the peanut butter and allow it to melt properly. Take it off the heat and pour it in mugs. Top it with whipped cream and sprinkles.
