Some accounts of the origin of tiramisu date its invention to the 1960s in the region of Veneto, Italy. In the 17th century, a dessert similar to tiramisu was created in Siena, in the northwestern Italian province of Tuscany. The concoction was dubbed zuppa del duca (the “duke’s soup”).
