The traditional white flour pancakes are a hot favorite all around the world, but they are not considered as a healthy breakfast. Oatmeal pancakes can be a good option for all the health-conscious people.
Most of us have always eaten pancakes made out of white flour, which are devoid of nutrients, as well as fiber. These cause insulin spikes, which are similar to those caused by ingestion of pure sugar. Healthy Oatmeal Pancake Recipe

If you are the health-conscious kind, you should use only half of the butter quantity mentioned in the recipes. Unsweetened apple sauce can also be added to enhance the taste. The vegans can substitute the milk with soy milk. Instead of the eggs, you can also make use of egg substitutes.

Basic Oatmeal Pancake

This recipe will serve 3 to 4 people.

Ingredients
  • Rolled Oats, 1½ cup
  • Milk, 2 cups
  • Whole Wheat Flour, ½ cup
  • All-Purpose Flour, ½ cup
  • Baking Powder, 1 tbsp.
  • Brown Sugar, 1 tbsp.
  • Salt, 1 tsp.
  • Cinnamon Powder, ½ tsp.
  • Vanilla Extract, 1½ tsp.
  • Eggs, 2
  • Butter, ¼ cup
Method
  • In a large bowl, mix oats and milk, and let the mixture rest for 10 minutes.
  • Mix all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon together in a different bowl.
  • To the oats, add beaten eggs, melted butter, and dry ingredients.
  • To make one pancake, you will require ¼ cup of the batter. Make it on medium high heat either on a grill or frying pan.
  • Once it's ready, you can serve it with apple sauce, maple sauce, or honey.

Buttermilk Oatmeal Pancake

If you want to have pancakes for breakfast on a Sunday morning and want to use this recipe, you will have to plan a little in advance. This recipe requires oatmeal to be soaked in buttermilk overnight. Now let's see the ingredients required for this recipe, as well as the method to make it.
Ingredients
  • Oats, 2 cups
  • Buttermilk, 3 cups
  • Eggs (beaten), 3
  • Flour, ½ cup
  • Baking Powder, 1½ tsp.
  • Peanut Oil, 1 tbsp.
  • Butter or Vegetable Oil for the griddle
  • Salt, a pinch
Method
  • Soak oats in buttermilk overnight.
  • The next morning, mix well-beaten eggs, flour, baking powder, salt, and peanut oil.
  • Heat a griddle or a frying pan and brush it with oil or butter.
  • Ladle the batter on the griddle or pan and make pancakes of the desired size.
  • When you see air bubbles on the surface, at the center, use a flat spatula to flip the pancake over. Cook it on the other side as well. It should be cooked until it becomes golden brown in color.
