However, unless you're in Fiji or the Bahamas, it's quite unlikely you'll be served authentic Pina Colada made from cream of coconut and fresh pineapple juice. Most bars and restaurants substitute the key ingredient with dairy cream and artificial coconut rum liqueur. So if you're looking to serve Pina Colada at your beach party, try preparing it at home.

Pina Colada Recipes

While Pina Colada actually contains rum, sometimes you need to omit it, especially if your guest list includes pregnant women and children. While rum is a crucial ingredient, you can use other ingredients in its place. Let's take a look at how we can prepare this tropical drink without rum.

Basic Non-Alcoholic Punch

Ingredients
  • 4 oz. pineapple juice
  • 2 oz. cream of coconut
  • 1 cup ice
  • Pineapple or orange slice for garnish
Method of Preparation
Add 1 cup ice, pineapple juice and cream of coconut to a blender. Blend these ingredients till it turns slushy. Then, take a chilled hurricane glass and pour the contents into it from the blender. Garnish with a slice of pineapple or orange and serve.

Pina Colada with Strawberries

Ingredients
  • 6 fluid ounces pineapple juice
  • 2 fluid ounces coconut cream
  • 3 tbsp. strawberry puree
  • Slices of pineapple or orange
  • 3 to 4 cups of ice
Method of Preparation
Crush ice in a blender and gradually add the pineapple juice and coconut cream. Next, add the fresh strawberry puree. Blend till combined, then serve the drink in a tall glass with a straw. Garnish the drink with a slice or orange or pineapple. Your exotic Pina Colada drink is ready to be served.

Pina Colada with a Twist

Ingredients
  • 2 medium bananas
  • 1 cup diced pineapple
  • 1 teaspoon coconut extract
  • 3 teaspoons sugar
  • 3 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 cup ice cubes
Method of Preparation
You need to first add the bananas into the blender and then blend till it turns into a puree. Then add the remaining ingredients that is pineapple, coconut extract, sugar, lime juice, ice, and milk to the banana puree. Blend again till all the ingredients blend into a thick, smooth puree.
Your Pina Colada with a twist is ready to be served! This recipe uses milk and coconut extract, however, it's best to use coconut cream.

Non-Alcoholic Cake

Ingredients
  • 18 ounce box yellow cake mix
  • 3 eggs
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 20 oz. can crushed pineapple with juice (use juice)
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
Method of Preparation
Before we begin preparing the cake, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Now, spray oil or flour on the baking tray to prevent the cake from sticking to the pan. Now, mix all the ingredients in a bowl, except chips. Pour the batter in a bundt pan and bake for 35 minutes.
To check if the cake is done, insert a toothpick. If it comes out clean, the cake is ready. Remove from the oven and allow it to cool. Once cool, turn the pan upside down to release the cake. Decorate your cake with freshly-grated coconut shavings, and your Pina Colada cake is ready!
