Milk Gravy Recipes

A lot of people like roasted chicken, prawns, sausages, or simply bread, with a milk gravy or white sauce. Read on to know some delicious mouth-watering recipes which are quick and easy to prepare.
Different people have different choices with regards to, how they like to eat their favorite dish. But a delicious and hot milk gravy goes with anything you like to eat. It is also called white sauce and the preparation method differs as per the ingredients and the method of preparation. Listed ahead are some delectable recipes.

Basic

Ingredients
  • Butter, (you can also use olive oil or margarine) 3 tbsp.
  • Refined Flour, 3 tbsp.
  • Milk, 3 cups
  • Pepper and Salt, as per taste
Heat some butter or oil in a pan or a skillet, on a medium flame. Once the butter has melted, add some flour and whisk it vigorously, till it blends properly. Keep whisking it for about 5 to 6 minutes, until it becomes soft and turns golden in color. Now, slowly add the milk and while adding, keep stirring it so that no lumps are formed.
Add salt and pepper as per your taste. Keep stirring on a low flame, till the mixture becomes thick enough. If the gravy is too thick, you can add some more milk while cooking. Serve it hot.

With Chicken Stock

Ingredients
  • Milk, 3 cups
  • Flour, 2 tbsp.
  • Chicken Stock, (low on sodium) 1 cup
  • Salt and Pepper, as per taste
Take a medium-sized skillet and pour the chicken stock into it. Heat it over a medium flame and let it boil. Mix the flour and milk in a separate bowl and whisk it well so that it does not have any lumps.
Now, pour this mixture into the boiling stock and lower the flame. Stir it till the whole gravy is thickened to a consistency of your choice. Then add salt and pepper and serve it hot. This recipe takes less than ten minutes to be cooked.

With Coconut Milk

Ingredients
  • Oil or Butter, 3 tbsp.
  • Onions, (finely chopped) 2
  • Fresh Green Chillies
  • Cinnamon Stick, 1
  • Coconut Milk, 3 cups
  • Lemon Juice, 2 tbsp.
  • Curry Leaves
  • Turmeric Powder, 1 tsp.
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste
Take a sauce pan and into it, add all the ingredients, except the coconut milk and lemon juice. Reduce these ingredients to a thick paste while heating them. In another skillet, add coconut milk and lime juice, and thicken it by heating on medium flame.
Add this mixture in the saucepan, with other ingredients, and add salt and pepper as per your taste. Stir this entire mixture to avoid lumps and serve it immediately, with the dish of your choice or steamed potatoes.

With Sausages

Ingredients
  • Milk, 3 cups
  • Refined Flour, 1 cup
  • Hot Sausage, 2 lbs.
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste
In a saucepan, cook the hot sausages properly. Put some flour on the sausages and cook it for 5 minutes on low flame. Add milk, some salt, and pepper and stir till this mixture thickens and the gravy gets a smooth texture. Pour this mixture on a plate and serve as a breakfast dish.
