Lavender Cookie Recipes

Lavender cookies are a delightful treat that can be enjoyed with tea. The recipe for making them is also hassle-free and simple to follow.
We know that there are a variety of cookies made up of different ingredients like chocolate, peanut butter, coconut, or oats. However, there are many unique ingredients used, as well. A lavender flower is one such ingredient that is used as a flavor for cookies. These are delicious with just a hint of lavender. Next time you feel like having these, no need to rush to the store to buy them, because you can bake these cookies at home.

Simple Lavender Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup, all-purpose flour
  • 1½ tablespoons, dried or fresh lavender flowers
  • ½ cup, powdered sugar
  • ¾ cup, butter (melted)
  • 1, egg

Baking Instructions

Take a large bowl and put the flour into it. Add the dried or fresh flowers (according to your preference) to the flour; mix the ingredients, together. Keep it aside. In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter into the powdered sugar. Beat the egg into the butter mixture.
Now, transfer this to the bowl with the flour. Stir it occasionally to avoid lumps. Using a spoon, place dollops of the batter on a well-greased cookie tray; bake it in a preheated oven at 177 ºC, till the cookies become golden brown. Let the cookies cool for about 15 minutes. Sprinkle decorative sugar on top.

Lavender and Lemon Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2½ cups, all-purpose flour
  • 1½ teaspoons, dried lavender buds (ground)
  • 2 teaspoons, lemon peel (finely shredded)
  • 1 cup, butter (softened)
  • 1 cup, powdered sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon, salt
  • ¼ cup, milk

Baking Instructions

Take a large mixing bowl and combine the flour, salt, lavender buds, and lemon peel, together. Blend ¾ cup of the butter and powdered sugar, and combine the flour mixture with it, till a dough is formed. Roll the dough into a long log (about 10 inches long) and wrap it in butter paper. Freeze the log in the refrigerator till it becomes firm. Take it out and let it return to room temperature.
Preheat the oven to 177 ºC. With the help of a rolling-pin, flatten the dough (maintaining 1-inch thickness). Now, with a cookie cutter, cut out the cookies and place them on a baking tray; bake these for about 10 minutes till they become golden brown. Remove them from the oven and let them cool.
For the cookie frosting, blend the milk with the remaining butter and powdered sugar, till it becomes consistent. Add the shredded lemon peel and lavender buds to the frosting. With the help of a spatula, spread the frosting on the cookies.

Lavender and Honey Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups, all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons, fresh or dried lavender blossoms
  • 3-4 tablespoons, honey
  • 1 teaspoon, baking powder
  • ½ cup, unsalted butter (softened)
  • ½ cup, confectioners' sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon, salt

Baking Instructions

Take a medium-sized bowl and add the unsalted butter, confectioners' sugar, and honey, to it. Keep it aside. In another large bowl, mix the flour, lavender, baking powder, and salt. Blend both bowls' ingredients and knead it to form dough. Roll the dough onto parchment paper and refrigerate it for 2 hours.
Take the dough out and flatten it with the help of a rolling pin (maintaining ½-inch thickness). Cut out the cookies with a cookie cutter. Place parchment paper on a baking tray and place the cookies on it. Bake these cookies in a 177 ºC preheated oven for about 10 minutes. Serve warm.

Lavender Cookies with Rose Water Icing

Ingredients

  • 2 cups, all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons, lavender blossoms (crushed)
  • 1 cup, powdered sugar
  • 2½ teaspoons, baking powder
  • 2, eggs
  • ½ cup, butter (softened)
  • ¼ teaspoon, salt

Ingredients for the Icing

  • ¼ cup, rose water
  • 2 cups, powdered sugar
  • 6 tablespoons, water

Baking Instructions

In a bowl, beat the eggs with the crushed lavender blossoms, salt, and baking powder. In a separate bowl, blend the powdered sugar and butter, together. Now, mix all the ingredients with the flour till a smooth batter is formed. On a greased cookie tray, spoon cookie-shaped batter; bake them in a 190 ºC preheated oven for 15 minutes.
For the icing, combine the powdered sugar, rose water, and plain water. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool, completely. Once the cookies cool, drizzle this icing on the cookies and serve them with piping hot cocoa.
