White wine is produced from the colorless pulp of grapes, and not from their skins. It is produced on a large scale in Italy. This story provides some information on Italian white wine.
Italy has been the leading producer of vintage wine brands for a very long time. The cultivation of grapes for producing wine was accelerated by Greek colonization. The Italian white wine known as Bianco, was produced in almost all parts of Italy using different varieties of grapes.

Wine List

The climate of Italy favors the growth of premium-quality grapes, from which superior wine varieties are produced. The rich white wine is sold on a large scale, and wines manufactured in the Northern parts of Italy are known to be the best ones. Some of these world-renowned wines are produced from Italian grapes, and so the drinks are also named after the species of grapes from which they have been made.

Pinot Grigio

This is the most popular type of white wine, and is of the dry variety. Being extremely light, it is sipped mostly during dinner time as an appetizer. It is pale-golden in color, and is produced in Pinto Grigio and Veneto. It has a subtle, lemony flavor.

Soave

This wine tastes best when consumed within 3 years of packaging. It is manufactured from Garganega grapes, is straw-colored, and has a fruity taste. The acidic nature of this wine gives it an alcohol content of 11.5%. It serves as a wonderful appetizer which can be consumed either before or after dinner.

Moscato

This sparkling wine is one of the types of Moscato d'Asti, having a semi-sweet taste. Cultivated largely in the area known as Piedmont, this wine should not be confused with the popular variety of wine of the same name that is produced in Germany. Muscat of Alexandria is grown mostly in Southern Italy, and is consumed as a dessert.

Chardonnay

This wine variety is cultivated mainly in Northern Italy, in the Alto Adige region. This drink is consumed with non-vegetarian recipes, particularly lobster and crab dishes eaten with sauce. This particular wine is manufactured from Chardonnay grapes, that have influences of oak and terroir flavors.

Vermentino

It is a popular drink of Northern Italy, mainly in the Sardinia, Ligurian, and Tuscan regions. Since it is a drink of the coastal region, it's consumed with sea food and fish recipes. This wine is light and crisp in nature. It's also known by many local names like Favorita and Pigato. It is one of the best sparkling wine varieties.

Ribolla Gialla

This wine is produced largely in Northeast Italy. It's found in regions like Slovenia and Kefalonia. Ribolla is also known as Friuli-Venezia Giulia wine, as its grown in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region. It is light-bodied and highly acidic in nature.

Verdicchio

This wine has a characteristic nutty flavor and high value of acidity. It's grown in the Marche region and Adriatic coast. It's a dry variety of wine that tastes best when sipped fresh. It's usually consumed with seafood, and serves as a good appetizer. Verdicchio has a slightly greenish-yellow hue.
