Hummus Recipes with Tahini

If you are tired of the regular bread and dip, you should try hummus with tahini. This dish is easy to make as it hardly takes any time to prepare. It goes very well with pita bread as well as carrots sticks. You can serve it as a party appetizer, or with falafel.
Hummus is a traditional dip made from chickpeas or garbanzo beans. The core ingredients are chickpeas and tahini, both of which are healthy items. Over here, tahini is a paste exclusively prepared from sesame seeds. As per taste, you can include seasoning spices and culinary herbs. Best served as easy appetizers or snacks, you can make delectable hummus within no time.

Ingredients
  • Chickpeas or garbanzo beans, 1 (16 oz.) can
  • Tahini, 1½ tbsp.
  • Crushed garlic, 2 cloves
  • Olive oil, 2 tbsp.
  • Lemon juice, 3-5 tbsp.
  • Liquid from can of chickpeas, ¼ cup
  • Salt, ½ tsp.
Directions for Preparation

Drain chickpeas and reserve the liquid part. In a food processor, add the ingredients - drained chickpeas, tahini, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, and the reserved liquid. Process this mixture for about 5 minutes in a low setting. Transfer the hummus in a serving bowl and create a well in the middle.
To this, pour 1 tablespoon olive oil. Garnish with parsley and serve immediately with fresh pita bread. You can refrigerate leftover hummus for later.

Ingredients
  • Chickpeas, 1 can (drained and rinsed)
  • Tahini, 6 tbsp.
  • Garlic, 2 cloves (crushed or minced)
  • Ground cumin, ¼ tsp.
  • Lemon juice, 3 tbsp.
  • Olive oil, 2 tbsp.
  • Water, ¼ cup
  • Salt, ½ tsp.
  • Parsley for garnishing
Directions for Preparation

In a small mixing bowl, whisk together tahini and olive oil, and keep aside. Combine lemon juice and water in a large measuring cup. If desired, you can retain 2 tablespoons of chickpeas for garnishing the hummus.
Following this, add remaining hummus ingredients - chickpeas, minced garlic, cumin, and salt in an electric mixer. Blend this mixture for about 2 minutes, or until ground. Scrape bowl with a wooden spatula.
Pour dilute lemon solution through the feed tube of the blender. Process at a low setting for 1 - 2 minutes and then add tahini and olive oil concoction. Continue to blend the mixture until you get a creamy hummus paste. Transfer hummus into a bowl and cover lid. If time permits, allow it to set for 30 minutes before serving,
At the time of serving, you can garnish with reserved chickpeas and parsley. Also, do not forget to drizzle olive oil on top. This authentic hummus is served best with toasted pita chips and side vegetables.

Ingredients
  • Garbanzo bean, 2 cups (soaked overnight)
  • Tahini, ⅓ cup
  • Garlic, 2 cloves (halved)
  • Lemon juice, ¼ cup
  • Paprika, 1 pinch
  • Minced fresh parsley, 1 tsp.
  • Olive oil, 1 tbsp.
  • Flavorful spices (cumin, coriander)
  • Chili powder to taste
  • Salt, 1 tsp.
Directions for Preparation

Drain soaked garbanzo beans and place in a cooking pot. Add water and boil for 25 - 30 minutes, until beans are tender and softened. In a food processor, add water (about 1 ounce), tahini, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, spices, chili powder, and salt.
Blend for a few minutes to make a creamy tahini paste. Lastly, add cooked beans and blend again, until you get a smooth puree. Transfer in a serving bowl and drizzle olive oil on top. Sprinkle paprika and parsley. Serve with your favorite bread and it will taste delicious.
Hummus may look bland, but it tastes delicious. While serving in parties, you can decorate hummus with culinary herbs to enhance visual aspect.
