How to Make Oatmeal Cookies

Oatmeal is one of the grains which is known more for its nutritional value than for its taste! Another reason why it is a must in breakfast is that it can easily be used with many more things, like fruits and milk. Oatmeal enhances the taste of any recipe, in which it is used.
Firstly oatmeal consists of lots of soluble fiber and soluble fiber is one of the best ways to reduce cholesterol levels, which in turn means reduced risks of heart attacks. Oatmeal contains sugar molecules known as beta-glucans, which are said to reduce the risk for infections that occur after surgeries.
Beta-glucans also help to stabilize the insulin and blood sugar levels. Apart from these benefits, the best benefit is that, it fills your tummy.

Oatmeal Cookies Without Eggs

Ingredients
  • Oats, 1 cup (rolled)
  • All-purpose flour, 1 cup
  • Applesauce, ¾ cup
  • Walnuts, ½ cup (chopped)
  • Raisins, ½ cup
  • Brown sugar, ¼ cup
  • White sugar, ¼ cup
  • Baking powder, 1 tsp
  • Salt, ½ tsp
  • Cinnamon, ½ tsp (ground)
Directions
  • Preheat the oven to 175º C and grease a cookie sheet and keep it aside.
  • Now, mix the brown and white sugars with applesauce in a bowl.
  • Mix and sift together the flour, salt, baking powder, and cinnamon. After sifting, add it to the applesauce mixture.
  • Add the chopped nuts, raisins, and rolled oats. Once the mixture is combined, add it to the prepared cookie sheets.
  • Bake for about 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven. Let the cookies cool, before removing them from the baking sheet.

Oatmeal Cookies Without Brown Sugar

Ingredients
  • Oats, 1½ cups
  • Flour, 1¼ cups
  • Butter, 1 cup
  • Sugar, ½ cup
  • Powdered sugar
  • Vanilla, 1 tsp
Directions
  • Preheat the oven to 175º C.
  • Mix sugar and butter in a bowl, till they turn light.
  • Now, add vanilla, flour, salt, and oats and mix well.
  • Shape the mixture into small balls and place on an ungreased baking sheet, 2 inches apart.
  • After placing them, flatten the balls with a fork, in a crisscross pattern.
  • Bake for 12-19 minutes in the preheated oven and sprinkle with powdered sugar after the cookies are baked.

Oatmeal Cookies Without Baking Powder

If you are allergic to or simply don't like baking powder or baking soda, this recipe is just right for you.
Ingredients
  • Oats, 3 cups (rolled)
  • Sugar, 2 cups (granulated)
  • Nuts, 1 cup (chopped)
  • Butter, ½ cup
  • Cocoa powder, ½ cup
  • Condensed milk, ½ cup
  • Vanilla extract, 1 tsp
Directions
  • Combine oats, nuts, and vanilla extract and keep aside.
  • In a 2-quart heavy saucepan; combine the sugar, condensed milk, and cocoa.
  • Bring the mixture to a full rolling boil, stirring continuously. Keep stirring the mixture for 2 minutes.
  • Now, remove the pan from the heat and add butter to it. Stir till the butter melts, and once the butter is melted, quickly add the oats mixture and stir well.
  • Drop the mixture by the spoonful onto wax paper. Let it cool for two hours, to set.

Oatmeal Cookies Without Butter

Ingredients
  • Oatmeal, 3 cups (uncooked)
  • Mixture of almonds, chocolate chips, cranberries, etc., 2½ cups
  • Flour, 1 cup
  • Applesauce, ¾ cup (unsweetened)
  • Sugar, ¼ cup
  • Brown sugar, ¼ cup
  • Egg, 1
  • Vanilla, 1 tsp
  • Baking soda, 1 tsp
  • Salt, ½ tsp
Directions
  • Preheat the oven to 175º C.
  • Add brown sugar, sugar, vanilla, and egg into the applesauce in a bowl and mix flour, salt, and baking soda in another one.
  • Now, add the applesauce mixture to the flour mixture.
  • Add oatmeal along with nuts and berries.
  • Drop the mixture onto the ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 8-10 minutes.
  • Before moving the cookies to the wire rack, let them cool in the pan for a couple of minutes.

Oatmeal Cookies Without Raisins

Ingredients
  • Oats, 3 cups (quick cooking)
  • All-purpose flour, 2 cups
  • Butter, 1 cup (softened)
  • White sugar, 1 cup
  • Brown sugar, 1 cup (packed)
  • Eggs, 2
  • Cinnamon, 1½ tsp (ground)
  • Salt, 1 tsp
  • Baking soda, 1 tsp
  • Vanilla extract, 1 tsp
Directions
  • Preheat the oven to 190º C and grease the cookie sheets.
  • Add cream, white sugar, brown sugar, and butter in a bowl.
  • Beat the eggs one by one into the mixture and add vanilla extract to it.
  • Now, combine salt, baking soda, flour, and cinnamon.
  • Add this mixture to the creamed mixture and add in the oats. Cover the dough, and chill it for at least one hour.
  • After an hour, make small balls of the dough and place them on the cookie sheets, 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the oven. Once they are baked, move them to the wire rack, but only after letting them cool for 5 minutes.
