How to Make an Ice Cream Cake

An ice cream cake would be enjoyed by one and all if it was served on occasions such as a birthday, wedding anniversary, or even on a holiday get-together. The recipe will help you understand the process of preparing one in a few fun and easy steps.
An ice cream is something children and the adults relish very much. Imagine your favorite cake topped along with your favorite ice cream. The idea sounds yummy. There are many confectioneries that charge people with a high price tag for an ice cream cake.
If you know how to bake a cake, then making an ice cream cake is very simple and fun. You can apply your ideas and flavors to this recipe. You could either use one flavor of ice cream or a combination of flavors. However, it is recommended not to use any kind of fruits because the fruits get frozen when you freeze the cake.

The Recipe
The following recipe uses the combination of chocolate-chip ice cream with chocolate cake. However, you can substitute these with any combination that you would like to have.
Ingredients
  • Chocolate cake mix, 2 packets
  • Round cake pans, 3 
  • Whipping cream, (1 pint)
  • Sugar, 4 tablespoons
  • Vanilla essence, 1 tablespoon
  • Wax paper 
  • Ice cream, 1 family pack, (chocolate-chip or flavor of your choice)
Method
  • The first step is to thaw the ice cream a bit. Hence, leave it outside the freezer for sometime.
  • In the meantime, create a mold for the ice cream by lining a round cake pan with wax paper.
  • Once the ice cream becomes soft, fill the molds with the ice cream. Cover the mold with food grade plastic paper, and place it in the freezer for a few hours.
  • Two cakes should be prepared. If you are using the ready-made cake mix, follow the instructions given on it; or else you can use your ingredients to make the cake of your choice. If you are trying for the first time, sponge cake is the best. After that cool the cake.
  • In a blender, blend the whipping cream, sugar, and vanilla essence to make the whipped cream. It has to be soft and fluffy.
  • Transfer it to a dry container, and put it in the chilling compartment of the fridge for half an hour.
  • The final step is to assemble the ice cream cake. On a round platter, place one of the cakes.
  • Next, spread the ice cream over it. Make sure to spread it on the sides of the cake also.
  • Now place the last piece of cake on top of the ice cream.
  • The last step is to ice the cake with the chilled whipped cream. Spread the whipped cream evenly on the cake.
  • You can decorate the cake with cherries, dry nuts, mint leaves or chocolate slices. The decoration depends on your imagination.
  • The ice cream cake should be refrigerated till the time it is served.
