How to Make Guacamole Dip

Bhakti Satalkar
A wonderful accompaniment with tortilla chips, guacamole dip is easy to make and wonderful in taste. Learn to make the recipe in a few, simple steps.
The trick to making the best guacamole is to use ripe avocados. Also, all the other ingredients used in the recipe should be fresh.

Recipe #1

The following recipe includes serrano peppers which are quite hot. So depending on how spicy you'd want the dip to get, add the peppers accordingly.
Ingredients
  • 2 ripe avocados
  • ½ red onion
  • ½ ripe tomato
  • 1-2 serrano peppers
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro leaves
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
Preparation
  • Cut the avocados into two parts.
  • De-seed the avocado and using a spoon, scoop the avocado from the peel.
  • Mash the avocado and add onions, peppers, cilantro, lemon, tomatoes, salt, and pepper, and combine everything properly.
  • Do a taste test and serve the dip immediately.

Recipe #2

Instead of lemon juice, we have included vinegar to give the acidic flavor for the dip.

Ingredients
  • 1 ripe tomato
  • 2 avocados
  • 1 chopped green chilis
  • ½ onion, minced
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons pomegranate seeds
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
Preparation
  • De-seed the avocado and using a spoon, scoop the avocado from the peel.
  • Mash the avocado to make a chunky mixture.
  • Add tomatoes, green chilies, onions, vinegar, pomegranate seeds, salt, and black pepper, and mix thoroughly.
  • Do a taste test and serve the dip immediately.
Once avocado is cut, it tends to lose its fresh, green color quickly. Even though lemon juice helps slow the process down, it's best to prepare the dip right before serving.
