Drawn butter is an extremely easy dip to make. This story tells you how to make it in different ways with and without flavorings.

This simple-to-make dip can be used as an accompaniment for all those food items that are roasted, toasted, and boiled.

Interestingly, drawn butter can also be used for cooking too.

Plain Drawn Butter

Ingredients
♨ Unsalted butter, ½ pound
Method
♨ In a skillet, melt the unsalted butter slowly.
♨ Keep the heat to minimum to prevent it from burning.
♨ As the butter begins to foam, remove the foam with a ladle.
♨ When the butter gets completely melted, remove it from heat and set it aside.
♨ Allow the milk solids to settle down, so all that will be left is the drawn butter.
♨ Strain the drawn butter in a container or a bowl.

Garlic Drawn Butter

Ingredients
♨ Unsalted butter, ¼ pound
♨ Finely chopped garlic, 2 cloves
♨ Freshly ground white pepper, as per taste
Method
♨ In a small skillet, gradually melt the butter over very low heat.
♨ Ensure that you keep stirring it constantly to prevent it from burning.
♨ Remove the foam with a ladle, and remove the butter from heat.
♨ As the milk solids settle down, strain clear butter back to the skillet.
♨ Over medium heat, warm the butter; add the chopped garlic cloves and pepper.
♨ Serve the butter while it is still in liquid state. In case the butter starts solidifying, you can always melt it within seconds in the microwave oven.

Lemon Drawn Butter

Ingredients
♨ Unsalted butter, ¼ pound
♨ Lemon (juiced), 1
♨ Finely chopped chives, 2 tablespoons
♨ Salt, 2 tablespoons
♨ Freshly ground white pepper, as per taste
Method
♨ In a small skillet, melt the butter over very low heat.
♨ Once the butter starts foaming, skim it out with a ladle.
♨ Next, remove the butter from heat, and set it aside for a minute for the milk solids to settle down.
♨ With a ladle, carefully remove all the milk solids and strain out the clear butter back to the skillet.
♨ Pour in the lemon juice, chives, pepper, and some salt to make it ready to serve.

Shallot and Thyme Drawn Butter

Ingredients
♨ Unsalted butter, ½ pound
♨ Finely diced shallot, medium, 1
♨ Freshly chopped thyme leaves, 2 teaspoons
♨ Kosher salt, ¼ teaspoon
♨ Red pepper flakes, ⅛ teaspoon
Method
♨ Melt the unsalted butter in a pan. Remove the foam and the milk solids to get your drawn butter.
♨ Strain the clear butter back into the skillet, and add the remaining ingredients.
♨ Allow them to infuse for a bit so that the butter is well-flavored.
♨ Remove it from the heat, and serve it hot.
Drawn butter can also be made using other herbs. There aren't many flavorings that you can make. Herbs are easier to infuse too. If at all the butter is left over, you can refrigerate it too, and use it the next time you have to make those boring veggies a little more interesting.
