How to Grill Beef Ribs

One of the most popular ways to cook beef ribs is to grill them. Learn a couple of recipes which describe the correct procedure to get perfectly cooked juicy and succulent ribs, without much hassle.
Smoking and grilling are two methods to cook all kinds of ribs. Grilling beef ribs makes them delicious, however, perfectly cooked ribs are required to cook on a low heat, till they become tender.
The cooking time varies depending on the size and toughness of the meat and the temperature of the grill. Many find this process difficult, however, once you know how to grill beef ribs, you will opine otherwise.

Cooking Beef Ribs on a Charcoal Grill

This is a unique method to make the beef ribs succulent. With this method the cooking process is also shortened.

Ingredients

  • Beef Ribs, 1 lb
  • Barbecue Sauce, 1 cup
  • Ketchup, 1 cup
  • Brown Sugar, ½ cup
  • Olive Oil, ½ cup
  • Honey, 1/3 cup
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste

Method

1. The first step is to prepare the charcoal grill.

2. Put the ribs in a pot of water with salt and pepper and place the pot over
medium heat. The main objective of this step is to make the meat tender, hence, do not let the water boil.
3. In a bowl mix the barbecue sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, and honey together. In case you find the sauce very thick, you can thin it with a little water.

4. Drain the water from the ribs and keep them aside to cool.

5. When the ribs cool down, baste them with olive oil and place them on the grill.

6. Let the ribs cook until they are brown on both sides.
7. When the ribs start to get brown, baste them lightly with olive oil followed by the barbecue sauce we just prepared.

8. Then let the ribs cook for another 5 to 7 minutes, and they are ready to be served.

Grilling Beef Ribs on a Gas Grill

Not all of us are lucky and can have meat roasted on a charcoal grill, however, even a gas grill can give you tasty succulent meat.

Ingredients

  • Beef Back Ribs, 8
  • Ketchup, ½ cup
  • Honey, ½ cup
  • Onion, 1 (chopped)
  • Garlic Cloves, 4 (minced)
  • Green Chillies, 4 (diced)
  • Cayenne, 1 teaspoon
  • Salt, 1 teaspoon
  • Black Pepper, 1 teaspoon
  • Dry Mustard, 1 teaspoon

Method

1. Trim the excess fat from the beef ribs and rub them with a mixture of salt, pepper, and cayenne.

2. Preheat the grill to 250 degrees Fahrenheit.

3. Place the ribs on the grill over a drip pan and close the lid.

4. Let the ribs cook for 3 to 3½ hours at 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
5. While the ribs are cooking, prepare the sauce by combining the onion, honey, ketchup, chili, garlic, and mustard in a saucepan.

6. Heat the sauce at a low temperature and keep stirring till the sauce is even and warm.

7. When the ribs start to brown a little, baste them with the sauce you just prepared.
8. Return the ribs back to the grill and let them cook for 10 more minutes.

9. Now, coat the ribs again with a thick coat of the sauce and let it grill, till the ribs are well cooked and are ready to be served.

Grilling tips

  • The first tip is to place the ribs on the grill with the bone side down.
  • It is necessary that the ribs should not touch one another.
  • If you are using a charcoal grill, make sure that the meat does not overlap the fire.
  • To know if the ribs are cooked to perfection, you can test the ribs when the meat starts to pull away from the end of the bones. The meat should be tender and loose from the bone, when it is cooked.
