Pasta is made using flour and water, along with some spices that add flavor and zing to it. Here are some easy-to-follow recipes that will help you make pasta dough at home.
Everyone fancies pasta which is available in a variety of shapes and flavors. Pasta dough is mostly made of wheat flour and semolina, however, it is also made using other varieties such as durum, buckwheat, or rice flour. Under the Italian law, pasta must be made only from durum semolina flour.

Recipe 1

Ingredients
  • All-purpose flour, 1 cup
  • Olive oil, 4 tbsp.
  • Salt, ¼ tsp.
  • Water, as per requirement
Preparation
In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients―all-purpose flour, olive oil, salt, and water―and knead until the dough is smooth. Wrap it in a wet muslin cloth, let it rest for half an hour, and then use it as required.

Recipe 2

Ingredients
  • All-purpose flour, 4 cups
  • Large eggs, 4
  • Large egg yolk, 1
  • Extra-virgin olive oil, 1½ tbsp.
Preparation
In a large, flat cooking plate, mound the flour, and make a well in the center (see image for reference). Pour the eggs, olive oil, and egg yolk into the well. Whisk the eggs in it using a fork, taking care not to draw in the flour in the process.
Once done, start mixing the flour with the eggs, beginning with the inner rim of the well. When the flour is combined with the egg-oil mixture, start kneading the dough with your hands.
You can also use a food processor to knead the dough. Sprinkle some more flour if the dough becomes sticky or soft while kneading. Roll it in a ball, wrap it in plastic, and allow it to rest for half an hour at room temperature. The dough is now ready to be shaped as desired.

Recipe 3

Ingredients
  • Semolina flour, 2 cups
  • All-purpose flour, 2 cups
  • Salt, ½ tsp.
  • Large eggs, 5
  • Olive oil, 1 tbsp.
Preparation
In a large bowl, combine the semolina, all-purpose flour, and salt. Using a fork, mix all these ingredients together. Once done, sift the mixture into another bowl, and set it aside. In a separate bowl, add the eggs and beat them using a fork. Add the olive oil to the beaten eggs and mix them together.
Knead the dough until it turns elastic and pliable. Wrap it in a plastic wrap and refrigerate it for at least an hour. Remove the dough from the refrigerator and let it rest for 15 minutes at room temperature before using it.
Making pasta dough at home can be a lot more fun when children are involved. They love to roll them into different shapes. While making the dough, you can try different varieties of flour and spices to change the flavor of the pasta.
