Homemade Brownie Recipes

Who does not like brownies? Be it a little child of 5 or a 60 year old man, brownies are something that people of all ages crave for. They are popular American desserts that were introduced in 1893 during the Columbian Exposition. Brownies are made with rich chocolate, nuts, cream cheese, frosting and chocolate chips.
They are not only a great attraction for dinner parties and picnics, but also perfect ideas for lunch boxes.
Even though brownies are quite popular among people, not many people think about making them because they are considered to be difficult to prepare. On the contrary, making brownies at home are quite simple and are recommended for kids' cooking too.

Recipe 1

Ingredients
  • ⅓ cup, all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup, butter
  • ½ teaspoon, vanilla extract
  • 8 ounces, sugar
  • 6 tablespoons, cocoa powder (unsweetened)
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces pecans (toasted)
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 325 °F. Take the butter in a microwave-friendly dish, and melt it in the microwave. Add the unsweetened cocoa powder to it and stir well. Once this is done, add the flour, sugar, vanilla extract, salt, cocoa powder, and eggs. Mix till all the ingredients are fully blended.
The batter should be rich brown in color after you have finished with the mixing. Throw in the pecans and set aside. Spread some butter followed by flour on a baking dish. Transfer the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake in the oven for at least 35-40 minutes.
You can do the toothpick test to see whether the brownies are fully done. Cool the brownies on a wire rack completely before cutting them into square shapes.

Recipe 2

Ingredients
  • 12 ounces, flour
  • 1¼ cups, margarine
  • ¾ cup, cocoa
  • 4 eggs
  • 16 ounces, sugar
  • 2 teaspoons, vanilla extract
  • 16 ounces, nuts
Preparation
Beat the eggs in a medium-sized bowl and set aside. In a saucepan, melt the butter over a medium-high heat and when it gets fully melted, put in the cocoa and stir. Take the saucepan off the heat, and add the sugar to it, followed by the beaten eggs and continue to stir. Add the vanilla essence and flour and mix thoroughly.
Fold the nuts into the brownie batter and set aside. Grease a baking pan and pour the batter into it. Bake the batter in a 350 °F preheated oven for 30 minutes. Once this is done, take it out of the oven and let it cool before cutting and serving.

Recipe 3

Ingredients
  • 1¼ cups granulated sugar
  • 4 extra large egg whites
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • ⅛ teaspoon cream of tartar
  • ⅛ teaspoon baking powder
  • 14 graham cracker squares (broken into half)
  • 8 ounces whipping cream
  • 8 ounces pecans
  • Chopped pecans, for garnish
Preparation
In a large mixing bowl, take the egg whites along with the baking powder and beat them together. This should be followed by the cream of tartar and a cup of sugar. Beat till all the ingredients are fully mixed. Pour this batter into a greased baking dish and bake for 30 minutes in a 300 °F preheated oven.
While the brownies begin to bake, in another bowl, beat the cream till it turns thick. Add the remaining sugar as well as the vanilla to it, and whisk again. When the brownies are fully baked and cooled, garnish with the whipped cream mixture and some pecans. Store in the refrigerator and serve cold.
