The name 'Hamburger' comes from the place Hamburg in Germany, since the Germans often name their local traditional snacks after their place of origin.
Although the name suggests the presence of ham, hamburgers can be made using grilled patties of different types of ground meat like beef, chicken, pork, or turkey. For the vegetarians, there is always the option of a vegetarian-burger that is devoid of meat.
