Hamburger goulash is a tasty meal, excellent for serving at a special dinner or party. The popularity of this dish is credited to ease of preparation and requirement of simple ingredients. The main items required for its recipe are hamburger, elbow macaroni, ground beef, tomato sauce, paprika and seasoning spices. However, you can add other vegetables as well, in order to suit your taste buds.

Easy Hamburger Goulash

Ingredients

♦ 2 pounds ground beef
♦ 1 pound macaroni
♦ 1 medium onion, minced
♦ 1 large can crushed tomatoes
♦ ½ teaspoon seasoned salt
♦ 1 teaspoon salt (to taste)
♦ ¼ teaspoon pepper
Directions for Preparation

Prepare macaroni as per directed in the package. Drain water and keep aside. Preheat a skillet and add ground beef. Cook until browned and drain excess grease.
Stir in onion, seasoned salt, salt and pepper. Cook for 2 - 3 minutes and remove from heat. To the pot containing cooked macaroni, add crushed tomatoes and ground beef. Stir well and add more seasonings (if required). Serve warm in individual serving bowls.

Hamburger Goulash with Elbow Macaroni

Ingredients

♦ 1 pound ground beef
♦ 1 box elbow macaroni
♦ 1 large can crushed tomatoes
♦ 1 small can diced tomatoes
♦ 1 clove garlic, crushed
♦ 1 onion, chopped
♦ 1 tablespoon olive oil
♦ 2 teaspoons paprika
♦ 1 tablespoon Italian seasonings

★ Directions for Preparation

First, let's cook elbow macaroni. For this, boil water in a saucepan and add macaroni. Cook as per the instructions mentioned in the packaging. In the meantime, preheat a large cooking pot over medium-high heat and pour olive oil. Sauté onion and garlic for about 3 minutes, until they are softened. Add ground beef and cook till well browned.
To reduce the fat content, you can drain grease from the pot into a heat safe container. Check whether macaroni is done or not; if yes, drain water and keep it ready.

Stir in diced tomatoes and cook along with meat for 5 minutes. Add crushed tomatoes and water into the pot. Bring to boiling temperature and cook for some time, until the mixture thickens.
Sprinkle paprika and Italian seasonings. To this, add cooked macaroni and stir well. Continue cooking for another 3 - 4 minutes and remove from heat. Transfer goulash into individual serving platters. Garnish with shredded cheese and serve warm with Italian bread and vegetable salads on the side. Hamburger Goulash with Tomato Soup

Ingredients

♦ 1 pound lean ground beef
♦ 2 cups (8 ounces) elbow macaroni
♦ 1 tablespoon olive oil
♦ 1 medium onion, chopped
♦ 1 green pepper, chopped
♦ 2 (14-ounce) cans diced tomatoes
♦ 2 (10¾-ounce) cans tomato soup
♦ Pinch of sugar
♦ Pinch of cinnamon
♦ Salt and pepper to taste

Boil water in a pot and cook macaroni as per the package instructions. Drain and keep aside. Heat oil in a thick skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté onion, and add ground beef and pepper. Stir constantly and cook for 7 - 8 minutes, by which time the beef will be browned. Add diced tomatoes, tomato soup, sugar and cinnamon.
Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Stir in cooked macaroni and combine properly. Season the dish with pepper and salt. Stir well and serve warm.
If you are concerned about consuming beef, you can add black beans, cubed potatoes and season the dish with chili flavorings. That way the quantity of ground beef can be cut down.
