Spinach-Mushroom Quiche

Ingredients:
  • ½ a cup butter
  • 3 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 10 oz spinach, chopped
  • 1 can mushrooms, drained
  • 6 oz herb and crumbled garlic feta
  • 8 oz Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 unbaked pie crust
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
Procedure
This savory quiche features purely delicious herb feta cheese that will simply melt in your mouth. The cheese is first sautéed and then mixed with mushrooms, lots of garlic, spinach and cheddar cheeses.
This whole mixture will then be mixed with eggs and milk, and then poured into a quiche pie crust. Sprinkle a dash of cheddar cheeses on top and then slip your quiche right into the oven and bake it until it is set. Start by preheating the oven to about 375ºF.
In a medium to large skillet, melt the butter over a medium flame. Sauté the onions and garlic in this butter for about 7 minutes until they turn brown. Stir in the mushrooms, cheddar cheese, the feta and the spinach. Season this mixture with some salt and pepper and then spoon the mixture onto the pie crust.
In a medium-sized bowl, whisk the eggs along with the milk. Season this mixture with some salt and pepper. Pour the whole mixture into the pastry shell and make sure the egg mixture combines thoroughly with the spinach mixture. Bake this dish in an oven for about 15 minutes.
Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top and then bake the dish for about 40 minutes more until it is set in the center. Set it aside for about ten minutes and your spinach quiche is ready to be served.

Essential Tips to Consider

  • While making a mushroom quiche, always add a can of drained mushroom stems and pieces and a jar of well-drained, diced pimiento along with bacon.
  • While making a bacon quiche, try substituting the cooked and crumbled bacon for some cooked chicken. Also, decrease the amount of salt to about ¾ teaspoons.
  • While making crab quiche, try substituting the crab meat for cooked chicken if you are not a seafood enthusiast. But, if you are sticking to all the ingredients, then pat the crab meat dry first.
  • To save up on time, once you sprinkle the crust with the meat of your choice, the cheese and the onions, then cover the dish and refrigerate.
  • Beat all the remaining ingredients and then refrigerate. Don't refrigerate for more than 24 hours. Stir the egg mixture well before you pour it onto the pie plate.
