How to Make Waffles at Home

Chunky Apple Waffles

Apples are a healthy source of fiber and nutrients, and without them, you're missing out on a slew of health benefits. Crunchy, firm, and just the right amount of sweetness, apples are a great addition to any breakfast meal. Let's see how you can use this fruit in your waffles.
Ingredients
  • ¾ cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg (or two medium-sized ones)
  • 1 cup of whole milk
  • 2 tbsp. of vegetable oil
  • 1 large apple (cubes)
  • ½ tsp. of baking powder
  • ¾ tsp. of vanilla essence
  • ¼ tsp. of baking soda
  • 1 tbsp. of melted butter
  • 1 tbsp. of powdered sugar
  • ½ a tsp. of cinnamon powder
  • 3 pinches of salt
Method
Sift the dry ingredients into a big bowl. Next, add the wet ingredients to the dry, using a hand-held whisk to acquire a smooth batter; there should be no lumps. Set it aside for approximately 30 minutes. Ready the waffle iron, following the instructions of how long to cook the mix.
In a hot pan, add a tbsp. of butter, a tsp. of vegetable oil, and a tbsp. of granulated sugar, and wait for the ingredients to melt on low heat; don't stop stirring the mix or it'll burn. Next, toss the apple chunks into the sauce for a few seconds and then take it off the heat.
Cover the pan and let the apple chunks absorb the caramel-y flavors of the sauce. Once it stops sizzling, pour it over the waffles and serve with a dollop of whipped cream.
