Easy Cookie Recipes for Kids

Baking cookies can be fun for kids as well as adults. We will give you some amazing cookie recipes that your kids will enjoy making as well as eating.
Though most parents think that involving children in the kitchen can be a little dangerous, it is said that learning cooking in an early age helps in developing certain important skills in children.
It is a good way of teaching them how to handle things and also to make them understand the safety measures that they should follow in the kitchen in a practical way, without scolding them. Moreover, parents who do not find much time to spend with their kids due to work will find cooking with kids as a rewarding experience which will help them to bond.
As cookies are something that children love, it will be a good idea to start with baking cookies. Before you start making them, there are several procedures that you have to follow. First, you have to select a cookie recipe for kids. List down the ingredients in a piece of paper and help your kid to recognize each one of them from your kitchen shelf.
While making the cookies, help them to take the required measurement of each ingredient. In this way, they will not only enjoy the whole process, but will also understand the importance of cooking.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients
  • 12 ounces, chocolate chips
  • 8 ounces, caster sugar
  • 1 teaspoon, vanilla essence
  • 12 ounces, plain flour
  • 8 ounces, butter or margarine
  • 2 eggs
Preparation
Take a large mixing bowl and ask your child to mix butter with sugar till it becomes creamy. In another bowl, help them to break the eggs and beat them with a spoon. Ask them to add vanilla essence to the eggs and mix well.
Transfer the egg and vanilla mixture into the bowl containing the butter and sugar. With a wooden spatula, tell you kid to mix it thoroughly till all the ingredients are fully blended. Add flour to this mixture by holding a sieve over the bowl and mix again. Let your child sprinkle 8 ounces of the chocolate chips into the cookie batter and stir.
Once this is done, ask him to grease two baking trays and pour the batter into them. Before baking them, the rest of the chocolate chips have to be added to the cookies. Place the cookie trays in a preheated oven at 350 ºF and let it bake for fifteen minutes.
Take out the cookie tray and keep if for cooling. When it is cooled completely, cut into various shapes with a cookie cutter and let your kid enjoy them with a glass of milk.

Cookies with Coconut

Ingredients
  • 12 ounces, flour
  • 8 ounces, coconut
  • 100 grams, margarine
  • 1/4 cup, groundnuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon, almond essence
  • 4 ounces, sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon, baking powder
Preparation
Ask your kid to grease the baking tin and keep them ready. He can help you by combining the margarine with sugar in a large mixing bowl. In another bowl, let him to whisk the egg with almond essence. Then, to add this mixture to the large bowl along with baking powder, flour, and coconut.
You can show your child the method of stirring initially and then let him do it on his own. Once these ingredients are fully blended, tell him to put in the groundnuts and stir again. Show him the way of filling the cookie batter into the greased tin with a teaspoon and let him do the rest. Bake the cookies at a medium to high temperature for 10-12 mins.

Cookies with Banana

Ingredients
  • 1 large banana
  • 3/4 cup, whole wheat flour
  • 8 ounces, oatmeal
  • 1 apple
  • 1 teaspoon, baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon, cinnamon
  • 4 ounces, butter
  • 4 ounces, white flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon, salt
  • 3/4 cup, brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon, baking soda
Preparation
Preheat the oven at 325 ºF. In a small mixing bowl, ask your kid to mash bananas and add brown sugar and butter to it. In a large bowl, help her to combine all the dry ingredients including baking powder, whole wheat flour, white flour, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, baking soda, oatmeal, and salt.
Transfer the ingredients of the small bowl with the dry ingredients and ask her to mix them well. Let her add the chopped apples and nuts into the cookie batter and set aside. Just like in the other two recipes, ask your kid to grease the cookie sheet and pour the batter into it. Bake the cookies in the oven for 20 minutes or till they become golden brown.
