Easy Chocolate Frosting

Who does not love to have delicious cakes and pastries? But what makes them sweet and sinful is the frosting on top. And what's better than chocolate frosting?
Everybody loves a good dessert, be it a cheesecake, pudding or a plain chocolate cake. But what elevates an ordinary sponge cake into a visually stunning and sublime dessert is the frosting. There are many kinds of frosting, from buttercream, ganache, royal icing to whipped cream frosting. However one of the most popular frosting is chocolate frosting. Kids love chocolate and what better way to decorate a birthday cake, than with chocolate frosting.

Chocolate Frosting Recipe

Ingredients
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 3 cups icing sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup milk
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
Method
In a large bowl, mix together the butter and cocoa powder until everything is well combined. Now, into this add the vanilla extract, salt and milk, and mix with a wooden spoon until the mixture becomes soft and smooth.
Now add the icing sugar, one spoonful at a time and continue beating the mixture until all the icing sugar has been incorporated in the mixture, and the mixture is light and fluffy. Now your chocolate frosting is ready and it is sufficient for icing a 500 gm cake.

Chocolate Frosting Recipe

Ingredients
  • 125 gm castor sugar
  • 5 tablespoons water
  • 175 gm dark chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup
Method
In a saucepan combine the water, corn syrup and sugar over a low heat. Stir continuously until all the sugar is dissolved taking care that the sugar syrup does not scorch. When the syrup comes to a boil, take it off the heat and keep aside to cool.
In a double boiler, break the chocolate pieces, and melt them over a low heat. You can use dark chocolate buttons instead of chocolate bars as it is easier to melt. When the chocolate has melted, add the sugar syrup gradually and whisk it in so that the frosting is smooth and shiny.
You can use this icing for cake decorating and it is among one of the easiest dark chocolate frosting recipes.

White Chocolate Frosting

Ingredients
  • 50 gm white chocolate chips
  • 100 gm mascarpone
Method
Melt the chocolate chips in a double boiler and keep it aside. Whisk the mascarpone until it is light and smooth in texture, add the melted chocolate into the mascarpone and mix them thoroughly. Your white chocolate frosting is ready to be spread over delicious cakes.

Yummy White Chocolate Frosting

Ingredients
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • ¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
Method
Melt the white chocolate chips in a double boiler and keep it aside. Break the eggs and separate the egg whites into a medium-sized bowl. Whisk egg whites with an electric beater until its light and foamy.
Add salt, vanilla extract and cream of tartar and whisk again until soft peaks are formed. Now add the sugar one tablespoon at a time, beating the mixture until stiff peaks are formed. Add the melted white chocolate and get ready to spoon it over your cake or cupcake.

Chocolate Frosting for Cupcakes

Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 5 tablespoons milk
  • 2 ½ cups icing sugar
  • 1 cup melted dark chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Method
In a medium-sized bowl, beat the butter until it is soft and smooth. Add the melted dark chocolate, vanilla extract, milk and icing sugar. Whisk everything together until it is well combined. Take care not to over whisk the mixture as the frosting will turn hard and dry. You can store this chocolate frosting for 3 to 4 days in the refrigerator by covering with a cling film.
