Crab legs are easy to cook and don't take much time, regardless of the cooking method you choose. Learn how to perfectly cook frozen crab legs at home.
While cooking crab legs, it's better to purchase the fresh ones instead of thawing it and then cooking. While thawing, the crab meat can lose its flavor. However, if you don't have any other choice, try purchasing pre-cooked frozen crab legs.
Different Cooking Methods
Steamed
In a large pot, bring about 2 to 3 cups of water to boil.
Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water and place the crabs on the rack at the bottom of the pan.
Now when the water starts boiling, set the timer to 7 minutes.
When the crabs are cooked, add it to your recipe.
Microwaved
Wrap 3 claws, at a time, with damp paper towels and place in the microwave.
Cook the legs on high for 2 to 3 minutes.
Once cooked, add the legs to your recipe.
Boiled
Put 3 to 4 cups of water in a pot.
Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the water and any other seasoning.
Let the water come to a boil. Now add the crab legs to the water and let it cook on low heat for 4 to 6 minutes.
Remove from the pot and serve hot.
Oven-baked
For cooking crab legs in the oven, you will have to preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Crack the legs and line it up on a baking tray.
Use butter to brush the legs and season it using salt and black pepper.
Place the baking tray in the oven and let the crab legs bake for 8 to 9 minutes.
Grilled
To grill crab legs, wrap it in a double-layered aluminum foil. Place the wrapped legs on top of the grill and cook for 15 to 16 minutes.
It is important that the legs are thawed completely before grilling it.
Make sure there are no openings in the foil, or else it will not cook evenly.
Serve cooked crab legs either with butter and lemon wedges, or with a tasty dip of your choice.
