Apart from making juice, a cantaloupe can be used for making pies, soups, frappes, etc. Presented here is a compilation of some of the best dishes made using a cantaloupe.
A cantaloupe or muskmelon is very sweet to taste when ripe and can be eaten raw. Although there are several health benefits associated with it, it is not much popular. However, it should be noted that this fruit contains several antioxidants which are good for the heart and help in maintaining normal levels of cholesterol.

Healthy Recipes using Cantaloupe

Cantaloupe Pie

This is a unique dish, equally loved by kids and adults. Your family will never even guess it contains cantaloupe.
Ingredients
  • 1 packet of lemon Jell-0
  • 2 cups of cantaloupe chunks
  • 1 container of Cool Whip
  • 1-2 inches of Graham cracker crust
Method of Preparation
  • Now in a saucepan, mix the puree, add dry Jell-O powder, and stir until the Jell-O dissolves.
  • Put the chunks of cantaloupe in a blender and make a puree.
  • Refrigerate this mixture till it sets partially. Now fold in cool whip.
  • Spoon the mixture into a pie shell and let it set in the refrigerator for 3-4 hours.
  • Check after the prescribed time, if not set, keep for another hour.

Cream of Cantaloupe Soup

Here is another recipe that can be easily made at home. However, this recipe may not be for those on a diet as it contains cream and sugar.
Ingredients
  • 4-6 large and fully ripe cantaloupes, seeded and cut into chunks
  • 1 carton of heavy cream
  • 1-3 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of mint flavoring or mint leaves
Method of Preparation
Put the chunks of cantaloupe in a blender, add sugar (to taste) and cream to it. Blend to form thick soup. Add mint for flavoring. Your cantaloupe soup is ready!

Cantaloupe Frappe

Ingredients
  • 300 ml of unfiltered apple juice
  • 1 large cantaloupe, seeded and cut into chunks
  • A few mint leaves
Method of Preparation
  • Put these refrigerated cantaloupe chunks and apple juice together in the blender and blend until it turns into a thick puree.
  • Refrigerate cantaloupe chunks for some time until firm.
  • Your cantaloupe frappe is ready! Garnish with mint leaves and serve chilled.

Recipes for Kids

Cantaloupe Cooler

This health drink is good for those on a diet and also for children.
Ingredients
  • 1 cantaloupe cut into large chunks, seeded and chilled
  • 1/2 cup of ice-cold water
  • 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/4 cup of mint leaves
  • 8 ice cubes
  • A pinch of sea salt
Method of Preparation
Put all the ingredients together in a blender. Blend until you get a smooth mixture. Serve the cantaloupe cooler drink immediately.

Cantaloupe Fruit Salad

Most of the health benefits are obtained from eating the fruit raw, without processing. One such dish made using fresh ingredients is the cantaloupe fruit salad.
Ingredients
  • 2 medium seeded cantaloupes cut in chunks
  • 1 pineapple and 1 large apple peeled and cut in small chunks
  • 1 cup of finely chopped walnuts and raisins
  • 1 bowl of yogurt (optional)
Method of Preparation
Mix all the fruits and dried fruits together in a large bowl. Serve in individual bowls with a scoop of yogurt on top. Enjoy your fruit salad!
