Waffles are eaten throughout the world, but are especially a hit in the US. Add chocolate chips, raisins, or even berries to your waffles, topped with various syrups, butter, and fresh fruit.
Classic Buttermilk Waffles
Ingredients
Melted Unsalted Butter, 9 tbsp
All-purpose Flour, 2 cups
Light Brown Sugar, ¼ cup
Baking Soda, 1 tsp
Baking Powder, 1 ½ tsp
Pure Vanilla Extract, 1 tsp
Ground Cinnamon, ½ tsp
Salt, ½ tsp
Eggs at room temperature (separated), 3
Buttermilk, at room temperature, 2 cups
Method
Grease the waffle iron with a small amount of butter.
In a large mixing bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
In another bowl, whisk egg yolks, buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla together.
Combine the dry and the wet mixture together.
Beat the egg whites until they are stiff and fold the egg whites into the waffle batter.
Spread about ¼ cup of batter on each section of the waffle grid and spread the batter to the edges.
Close the lid and let the waffles cook for 3 to 5 minutes.
Whole Wheat Buttermilk Waffles
Ingredients
Whole Wheat Flour, 2 cups
Baking Powder, 1 tsp
Baking Soda, ½ tsp
Sugar, 1 tbsp
Buttermilk, 2 cups
Egg, 1
Egg Whites, 4
Method
In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, and sugar together.
In another bowl, whisk buttermilk and whole egg till well combined.
Combine the buttermilk mixture with the dry mixture.
Beat the egg whites till stiff peak is formed.
Then gently fold the egg whites into the batter.
Heat the waffle iron and spray cooking spray on the grid.
Ladle ½ cup of the batter on the waffle iron and spread the batter.
Let the waffle bake as per the instructions on the waffle iron.
Once the waffles are ready, serve with your favorite syrup and toppings.
Delicious Buttermilk Waffles
Ingredients
All-purpose Flour, ¾ cup
Whole Wheat Flour, 1 cup
Baking Powder, 1 tsp
Baking Soda, 1 tsp
Salt, ½ tsp
Eggs, 2
Buttermilk, 2 cups
Canola Oil, ⅓ cup
Method
In a large bowl, combine all the dry ingredients together.
In another bowl, whisk eggs till it turns fluffy.
Add buttermilk and oil to the eggs and whisk again.
Combine the dry and the wet ingredients together.
Heat the waffle iron and bake the waffles as per the instructions.
If you are not going to eat them immediately, place them in a preheated oven.
