Breakfast Strata

Ingredients
  • 6 slices of French bread, 1/2 inch thick
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 lb smoked sausage
  • 1/2 lb mushrooms
  • 1 tablespoon chopped onion
  • 1/2 lb shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
Directions
  • Cut the sausage into cubes or small pieces.
  • Spread the chunks on the French bread.
  • In a large bowl, beat the eggs. Add milk, mustard, salt, and pepper, and blend well.
  • Then add the chopped onions and mushrooms, and mix well.
  • Pour this mixture over the bread with sausages.
  • Top it with shredded cheese.
  • Cover it with a plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  • Next morning add a little more cheese and cream of mushroom soup, and bake at 350°F for about 50 minutes, until it puffs up and sets. Get ready to serve it for brunch and get loads of compliments from your guests.
