Quiche is a popular dish originating from the French cuisine. It is a baked dish made from milk or cream and eggs in a pastry crust. You can also add some other ingredients such as vegetables, cheese, or chopped meat to the egg mixture in order to make it more flavorsome.

Traditional Method

Ingredients
  • Milk, ¾ cup
  • Frozen 9-inch Deep Dish Pie Crust, 1
  • Eggs, 5
  • Shredded Cheese or Cooked Vegetables (chopped and drained) or Deli Meat, (diced) 2 cups
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 350° F. In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs. Then add filling of your choice with milk and mix it well. Pour this mixture into a frozen pie crust. Place this mixture on a cookie sheet and bake for about 45-50 minutes, until the top turns brown. Serve it with spicy tomato sauce.

Cheese and Cream

Ingredients
  • 10" Unbaked Pie Shell, 1
  • Grated Swiss Cheese, 1 cup
  • Flour, 1 tbsp.
  • Eggs, 6
  • Butter, (softened) 1 tbsp.
  • Parmesan Cheese, ¼ cup
  • Light Cream, 1 cup
  • Butter, (melted and browned) 2 tbsp.
  • Pinch of Nutmeg
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Salt, ¼ tsp.
Preparation
Spread butter and sprinkle Swiss cheese on the bottom of the pie shell. Sift all the dry ingredients. Then add cream and eggs to dry ingredients and beat it until mixed well. Pour custard over cheese. Bake it for about 10 minutes at 450° F. Reduce the heat to 325° F and bake for additional 25 minutes. Then remove from the oven and sprinkle butter and Parmesan cheese over it. Keep it in the oven and bake for another 10 minutes.

Cheese and Onion

Ingredients
  • Gruyere, (grated) 8 oz.
  • Fresh Flat-leaf Parsley, (chopped) 1 cup
  • Half-and-half, (half milk and half cream) ¾ cup
  • Eggs, 4
  • Frozen Pie Crust, (in a tin) 1
  • Medium Yellow Onions, (diced) 2
  • Black Pepper, ½ tsp.
  • Olive Oil, 1 tbsp.
  • ⅛ tsp. Ground Nutmeg
  • Kosher Salt, ¾ tsp.
Preparation
In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-low heat. Then add onions, ¼ tsp. of pepper, and ½ tsp. of salt. Cover the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, until onions are softened. Then add chopped parsley and cook it for about 2 minutes. Meanwhile, whisk together half-and-half and eggs in a small mixing bowl.
Then add nutmeg, Gruyere, remaining pepper, salt, and onion mixture. Place the pie crust on the foil-lined baking sheet. Spread the egg mixture on the pie crust, until it is full. Bake it in the preheated oven at 375° F for about 40 minutes, until the filling is set. Cut it into wedges before serving.

Cheese and Mayonnaise

Ingredients
  • Flour, 2 tbsp.
  • Milk, ½ cup
  • Mayonnaise, ½ cup
  • Eggs, (beaten) 2
  • Sharp Cheddar Cheese, (grated) 8 oz.
Preparation
In a small mixing bowl, combine together all the ingredients. Mix it well. You can add the vegetables of your choice such as spinach, broccoli, mushrooms, etc. You may also add meats as per your choice.
Pour this mixture into the pie pan and bake it for about 45-50 minutes at 350° F. When the top is brown and center is firm, then it is ready to be served. With the above delicious recipes, it's time you pampered your taste buds.
