Add some variety to your meals; here are some banana recipes to help you do just that.
Yellow being the most common color, bananas also come in a variety of colors like red and purple. These fruits that are native to Southeast Asia and Australia, have found their way in every part of the world and are used for preparing several dishes. Whether its desserts, breakfast, beverages or salads, this fruit adds a nice taste to any meal. Here are some mouth-watering recipes to suit everyone's taste buds:
Banana Sorbet
Ingredients:
  • White Sugar, 1 cup
  • Water, 1 cup
  • Mashed Banana, 1 cup
Preparation:
  • Take a small dish and add sugar and water to it. Mix continuously and bring it to a boil. After it is boiled, allow it to cool down.
  • Add the bananas to this mixture and then place it in the refrigerator. Allow it to freeze for 4 hours.
  • After it is sufficiently frozen, add this mixture to a blender and blend till it becomes smooth. Put it in the refrigerator once again and let it cool for 2 hours.
  • Serve it in martini glasses.
Tortilla de Banana - Colombian Banana Omelet
Ingredients:
  • Butter, 3 tbsp.
  • Bananas, 4 (sliced)
  • Eggs, 6 Salt, ½ tsp.
  • Cayenne Pepper, ½ tsp.
  • Milk, ¼ cup Parsley, 2 tbsp. (chopped)
Preparation:
  • Take a medium-sized skillet and heat butter in it. Add the bananas and let them sauté for 5 minutes, taking care to turn them regularly. After this is done remove them and set aside.
  • In a bowl, beat the egg yolks with salt, cayenne pepper, and milk. Slowly add the egg whites and beat into the yolk mixture.
  • Place the egg mixture in a greased baking dish and top it up with the banana slices.
  • Bake at 350° F for 20 minutes. After it turns golden brown, remove and serve it with parsley.
Twisted Banana Split
Ingredients
:
  • Banana Liqueur, 1 oz.
  • Strawberry Liqueur, 1 oz.
  • Swiss Almond Chocolate Liqueur, ½ oz.
  • Pineapple Juice, 3 oz.
  • Cream, 1 oz. Whipped Cream, ½ oz.(not whipped)
  • Whipped Cream, 1½ oz. (whipped for topping)
  • Cherry, 1 (for garnish).
Preparation:
  • In a blender add all the ingredients and blend well.
  • Add some ice and blend once more.
  • Pour the mixture into a glass.
  • Top it up with whipped cream and cherry.
Banana Fudgicle
Ingredients:
  • Dark Crème de Cacao, 3 oz.
  • Banana, 1
  • Half and half or Cream, 4 oz.
  • Ice Cubes, 12 oz. (shaved)
  • Bitter Chocolate, (garnish and topping)
Preparation:
  • In a blender add the crème de cacao and banana.
  • Add the cream and ice cubes.
  • Blend till it becomes smooth and thick.
  • Pour it in martini glasses and garnish with chocolate shavings.
Banana Waldorf Salad
Ingredients:
  • Red Apples, 3 (cored and diced)
  • Banana, 1 (sliced)
  • Celery Stalk, ½. (sliced)
  • Walnuts, ¼ cup (crushed)
  • Dates, ⅓ cup (chopped)
  • Mayonnaise, 3 tbsp.
Preparation:
  • In a large bowl, add apples, bananas (that have been marinated in lime juice for 5 minutes), celery, walnuts, dates, and mayonnaise.
  • Chill it in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
  • Serve in lettuce cups or bowls lined with iceberg lettuce.
