Snack time for your children doesn't always have to be stressful. In fact, it can actually be fun and healthy, as long as you are equipped with some interesting and tasty treat ideas. Here are some snack options that your kids will love so much, they won't even realize that they aren't eating junk food.

Yogurt

Yogurt may seem boring, but there are many fun ways to dress it up so that your children will enjoy it. Instead of buying sugar-filled flavored yogurt marketed towards children, buy plain or vanilla-flavored Greek yogurt and add fun toppings.
Adding granola, berries, or even dark chocolate chips is a much better alternative to sugary, pre-packaged offerings. Plus, yogurt is a good source of protein and calcium, and is also beneficial for digestion.

Smoothies and Shakes

Making a smoothie or a shake is a great way to get tons of nutrients into your children, that they may not consume otherwise. The best part is you can fill the drink with healthy ingredients and mask the flavor with sweet additions like honey or berries.
Consider adding nutritious superfoods to the blender, such as chlorella, to give your children's immune system a boost. Adding chlorella for kids is an easy way to ensure that children get essential vitamins and nutrients that their growing bodies need.

Trail Mix

For a healthy snack for kids on the go, create your own trail mix. Most store-bought trail mixes contain chocolate and other sugar-filled sweets, but you can easily make your own at home. Use nuts and raisins to create a base, and add some dried fruit for healthy sweet option. If your kids crave crunch, use some granola or dried cereal.

Celery and Dip

If your kids can't live without unhealthy chips and dip, mix it up by encouraging them to use celery instead of chips. If they are willing to take things a step further, encourage them to use celery as a dipper for healthier options such as peanut butter, hummus, or guacamole.
Another fun snack idea to try is "ants on a log," which is celery with peanut butter and raisins nestled inside. These three foods combined provide a great balance of fat, protein, and carbs.

Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Every so often, the craving for greasy foods, such as fries, hits hard. Instead of saying "no," bake your own healthy sweet potato fries at home. Simply slice the potato into long strips, sprinkle a bit of salt or other spices onto the slices, and put them in the oven.
Sweet potatoes are quite nutritious, and contain beta-carotene, which helps to keep eyes and skin healthy. There's nothing like warm, freshly baked fries, and now you can enjoy them without any guilt.

Frozen Fruit Popsicles

On hot summer days, it can be hard to resist sugary popsicles. However, it is easy to make your healthy version. Simply blend fruits, and some fruit juice together into a puree, and pour the concoction into molds or small, disposable cups. Keep them in the freezer and in few hours, your kids will be enjoying fresh popsicles.

Popcorn

Buy kernels and make popcorn at home, either in air-popper or on the stove. Microwaveable popcorn have harmful ingredients you should stay clear of, and making your own can be a fun, interactive experience for children. Add salt or something more exotic, like truffle oil for flavor.
It's possible to create healthy snack options that are kid-approved. Try some of these simple recipes, and you may be surprised by just how much your children enjoy snack time.
